I was born in São Paulo, Brazil and lived there for 16 years, until my parents and I decided that the best course of action would be to move to the United States. I moved a few days before classes started in August and by myself, as my parents only moved in December. I lived with my aunt and uncle, who have been living here for over 20 years and supported me all the time we were deciding whether to move or not. However, they work a lot and were barely at home when I was, so I had to learn how to cook and clean, things that I had never done in Brazil. Now I live with my parents, but I am extremely grateful for everything my aunt and uncle did for me, I know that I’ve become a better person thanks to them. The experience I had was something that I’d never trade for anything, because it was a essential factor to make me who I am today.
